Well, I regret not trying harder to get Patsy to stop smoking earlier in our marriage when it was clear from national news in the 1960s that it could be the cause of lung cancer.

I never was bothered my her ash trays (which she started cleaning out regularly) or her smoking. But I didn't figure out a way to get her to stop without just ragging on her. Until it was too late.

She tried to stop with various patches etc, but she always fell back. And in the last years would go outside into the back yard to grab a smoke, which I was supposed not to notice.

And I still don't know, exactly, why all three of you kids never smoked. I don't ever remembering lecturing you on it, because I never smoked myself.
